Graham's original 'Poetraits' idea developed into the 'Midland's Poetraits'  Exhibition. We organised many schools' and community poetrait workshops with such poets as Matt Nunn, Don Barnard, Jan Wild, David Morley, Peter Blegvad, Roz Goddard and myself.  This exhibition, which  comprised of the original oil portraits and professional poets' poems later developed into a celebration of hundreds of poetraits drawn and written by nursery aged children to ninety year olds.   Workshops were run all over the midlands.  As the exhibition toured, more workshops were run in the galleries.  After the Poetry Central Midland's Poetraits' tour, we allowed the city library to store  and show them.  The library later commissioned portraits of the remaining Bham laureates in order to make a full set for the 10th anniversary, 'Birmingham Poets' Laureate' exhibition.

I will add more information to this archive soon.  Meanwhile , if you'd like more information about the Birmingham Poet Laureates, typing that phrase into a search engine should lead you to a number of useful links. One site, hosted by Bham Libraries, shows the Birmingham Poets' Laureate portraits and you can also click to hear interviews with all the laureates.
