Oasis Café Theatre     Julie Remembers Nights at the Oasis:

The Oasis Café Theatre began during my year as Birmingham Poet Laureate (2002-3).  It was held monthly, with a Christmas and Summer break, on the second Friday of the month at the Orange Studio, Cannon Street, Birmingham. Oasis was a showcase for the arts in Birmingham and usually combined various art forms in each event. Poetry, literature, art, photography and all types of music were regularly featured. The Oasis Cafe Theatre was run in partnership with Jonathan Davidson, of the Birmingham Book Festival, whose energy and enthusiasm for promoting live literature events, supporting artists and informing and entertaining the public is appreciated by many people in the midland's area and, not least of all, by me.
